Personal Family Counseling Services
For many students, there are times when life's problems seem to be overwhelming, making it difficult to focus on school. Some of the issues affecting students include relationships, family, friends, drugs, alcohol, depression, grief, stress, and even thoughts of suicide.
San Lorenzo High School's counselors are available to help students deal with personal issues. SLZ counselors can provide:
- Individual counseling to discuss personal problems
- Information for students on topics related to mental health
- Crisis intervention counseling
- Parent conferences
- Resources for parents with questions about adolescent developmental issues
If the counselor feels that a student would be helped by a service outside of school, she will refer the student and their family to the appropriate provider. Sometimes the student's family has counseling resources available through their health care provider (like Kaiser). SLz also has a Health Center on campus where students can go for counseling on personal issues. Some other good sources of counseling for students and their families include:
