What are some activities?
Each grade level is BADA offers field trips for students. Many of these trips allow students to learn on-site job skills in media arts and entertainment while others explore core curriculum. Past trips have inlcuded: Century Theaters, Ohlone College TV Station, College tours of UCSC, USC, SFSU, and CSMB, Academy of Arts and Science, Museum of Modern Art, Zeum, Ropes Course trip for grade 9, Niles Silent film Museum, Cal Shakes, Berkeley Rep, and poetry SLAM competitions.
Students in the BADA Academy are offered several guest speakers that allow them to learn from professionals various job opportunities in the digital or media arts or to explore offering at various colleges in the Bay Area that offer degrees in the field.
Access to Rebel XD (Extended Day):
All students at SLz, including BADA students, have access to the variety of after school programs offered through the Rebel XD program. As a part of this program BADA offers the After School Foreign Film Program where, on alternating Tuesdays, BADA screens films from other countries in the S1 BADA Theater.
After School Events and Video Festivals:
Twice a year BADA offers a video festival at which teachers award students the "end of semester awards" and screen the best videos from the 9-12th grade media classes. BADA also occassionally hosts after school events such as BBQs, treasure hunts, and/or games.
TV and Film Club:
Tv and Film club is a club that any student from Slz can join. We talk about movies, have poster give aways, discuss film, take field trips, such as Universal Studios, and have other activities within the club. It's a great way to meet new people and learn more about the film industry.
