Earth Week 2012
The Green SLC, along with Project Eat, Health Corps, Safe Routes to School, and Cycles of Change, were proud to put on the Earth Week Celebration during the week of March 26th-30th. The goals of this week were to bring greater awareness to the SLz community about environmental issues, as well as give students an opportunity to take small steps towards reducing their carbon footprint. Here is a list of the activities that took place:
Monday-Mural Contest Kickoff Students can sign up to create a mural inspired by earth week. Participants will have Monday through Thursday to create their mural. The winner will be announced on Friday at lunch and they will receive a prize.
Tuesday- Zoom-Zoom-Zumba Students can participate in a student led Zumba Exercise dance during lunch at The Block. Remember the key to a healthy planet is healthy people!
Wednesday-Walk and Roll to School Day Students will pledge to walk or roll to school to lessen their carbon footprint. Participants will receive a bracelet and a raffle ticket upon their arrival to school. The Bike Mobile will also be on campus on Wednesday from 11:30-1:30. Also, on Wednesday there will be Bike-blender Smoothies available for all students during lunch at The Block!
