Welcome to Green Academy

We're going to College!

Eight Green Academy students joined students from 3 other high schools in Sacramento for the weekend of November 20-23, to attend a Merritt College course in GIS technology. Students learned to use the GPS units, collected data about the school campus, learned to use the mapping software, then created maps of the site using their own data. All students who successfully complete the 4-day course earn Merritt College credit.

Community Action

In the 10th grade, students take Environmental Leadership in Action, an elective course which introduces basic concepts of environmental literacy, and involves students in local environmental projects with community organizations. Through this course, students run the school recycling program, maintain the campus native plant garden, and manage a school nursery. In addition, they participate in dozens of hours of community service.
